Hey Babes! This challenge is all about improving your social media! I'm so excited to share this one with you. So here's how it will work. I'm going to go through all of the days with you, and give you some tips on succeeding. Then, at the end of the challenge you'll have a form to fill out (you can fill it out early if you REALLY think you're ready) so you can be entered to win the $50 gift card!

Here's the deal:

Day 1

Write down all your stats. I like to have an excel spreadsheet where I put the social media channel, number of followers, and the date so I can look back and see how I grow. Even if you're at 0, go ahead and write this down. And if you need some encouragement, read: Why You Still Need Facebook For Your Blog

The first task is simple, but oh so necessary! Write it down, that's all you need to do. Since this is such a quick task, don't forget to check out the SOCIAL MEDIA section inside of Blog Boss Babe!

Day 2:

Next up, add social media icons to your blog. There are many ways to do this. If you're on Wordpress there are plugins. I like Ultimate Social Icons- easy to use and install. If you're on Squarespace you can just plug in your social icons and they will update where you want them to be. OR, much like with Blogger, you can design them on your own, you can add them on your own. I like Creative Market for buying things like icons (and graphic designs in general). You'll need to add some links to them, if designing them on your own. You can use Image Maps to do this, then add the HTML code to your blog. THIS is an excellent tutorial that shows you step-by-step on how to do it. It's not scary.

Day 3:

Next up, I want you to fill out your social media profiles entirely. SO many people don't do this! It's a great way to bring in more organic traffic! Did you know that if you search Twitter, you can bring up people by the information located in their profile? So think about some keywords you'd like to use and use them on each and every profile. This echoes back to a Blog Boss Babe lesson on creating a tag line. If you haven't done that lesson yet, find it here. Create a tag line, then you can USE it on social media!

This section on Pinterest talks about having a winning Pinterest profile. Remember, you want to have clear objectives and use keywords in your profile. make it concise and recognizable.

Day 4:

I know this might sound silly, but have you checked to make SURE those links are working? This is the internet, things don't always go as planned. So make sure your social media links are working. Click on every single one. The other day I went to go follow a fellow blogger and her links didn't work! Ensure that they work and they link to the right place. Pretty please!

Since today's lesson is a short one, don't forget to go check out the PDF: Using Social Media to Grow Your Blog to review what sizes are correct for each social media platform. This is SO SO important. In the "WEBSITE" section there is a tutorial on How to Edit Photos for your Blog. I go over easy ways to create photos for your blog! I highly recommend using Canva, PicMonkey, or Photoshop to do this.

Day 5:

Now that your social media links are pretty and working, I want you to gain followers on them. Take time to remind people of why they should follow you on each platform. Don't forget to share links on your own blog, within your actual posts. I also want you to use social media to share about OTHER social media.

For example, tell people on Instagram that you are sending out a link on Facebook for your favorite new restaurant. Or tell your followers on Twitter that you're sharing an exclusive sneak peek on Snapchat. This is a great way to gain new followers on platforms you already use. It's okay to remind people to follow you!

Day 6:

Let's schedule some posts! Go ahead and schedule posts on social media. I prefer Hootsuite or Buffer to schedule my posts (both tools are super user friendly.) Almost ALL of my social media posts are scheduled. You can see how to schedule by reading this

Scheduling is a great way to free up your time so you can focus on other tasks. Every time I go to schedule a post, I also schedule social media. I usually schedule about 6-7 posts on Twitter, Pinterest, and Facebook. (at least 3 for Twitter, 2 for Pinterest, 1 for Facebook).

Now, get to scheduling!

Day 7:

One of the BEST ways to organically grow your online following is by sharing about OTHERS on Social Media. Think of it this way: If I am looking for someone to follow, I will most likely follow someone that is retweeting or resharing my posts on Facebook or social media. They must already like my content, so I am going to follow them.

Now only does sharing other's posts help you gain followers, it helps you prove your authority online. It's this genuine camaraderie that you are creating that helps to make a lasting blog. I try to share someone else's post at least ONCE a day. And my social media following has grown because of it.

Here are some ideas:

- Share a post on Twitter from a blogger that you really enjoyed reading. Make sure to tag them @theirusername

- Create a collage on instagram or 2 or 4 others that you enjoy following. Don't forget to tag them and let them know.

- Share your favorite accounts that you follow on your own blog. Want to really hit it out of the park? Not only tag them on social media once the post is live, email them and let them know you included them. Chances are they will retweet you!

Okay! Once you've done all of the above fill out THIS FORM so I can check out your social media progress and so you can be eligible for the $50 Paypal cash!

Don't forget!!

Use your mastermind groups to communicate and share your progress. Have each other share posts, check links, and encourage one another. Need a mastermind group? Email me: helene@heleneinbetween.com.
